Greece (traditionally also known as Hellas) is a country world renowned for its beautiful beaches and sundrenched islands scattered throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Steeped in history it is considered the cradle of western civilisation and the birthplace of democracy. Aigialeia is a 729 km 2 municipality and a former province in the eastern part of the Achaea region of Greece that runs from the south coast of the Gulf of Corinth to the mountainous interior of the Peloponnese peninsula. We are known simply as Egialians. Established in 1965, the Egialian Association of Melbourne and Victoria Inc. is for all people from the Egialian region in Greece and their descendants now living in Australia. We pride ourselves in promoting our community, through social activities, song, dance, fun and festivities, day trips, events and attending cultural festivals, (especially to the 2nd and 3rd generations of those who emigrated here over the years) we also recognise the importance of our commitment to the philanthropic, patriotic and spiritual obligations of the Association
